A cry has gone forth from the camp of the Urhobo Youths Empowerment Front (UYEF) to President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint one of their own, a financially committed, trustworthy and loyal memner of the All Progressive Congress Party (APC) from the Isoko Nation as the next Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). They say this purely for fair play and equity!
Addressing newsmen in Warri recently, the Coordinator of the Group, Comrade Peter A. Akpotu pointed out that the Urhobo Nation had gotten the Deputy Senate President, a Minister in charge of the Niger-Delta and as such “it is only fair that the Isoko Nation be given the Managing Director of the NDDC”. Comrade Akpotu decried the situation where from OMPADEC to present NDDC the Aniomas’, Itsekiris’, Urhobos’ and the Ijaws have produced the Chairmen and Managing Directors respectively excluding the Isokos’. Comrade Akpotu described tis very act as “total marginalisation”! He therefore pleaded with President Buhari to accede to their plea and do justice moreso as the Isoko Nation has the highest oil production quantum presently in Delta State.
