The tenure of Chief Babatunde Fowler, current Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service comes to an end on Tuesday, December 10. And as expected, the race for the coveted seat has begun. According to reliable sources, some powerful forces have been consulting secretly for capable hands to run the affairs of the Establishment and among them was onetime Executive Chairman Mrs. Ifueko Omoigui.
Though she is reported to have declined, the chase has been narrowed down to one Alhaji Barau and a prominent northern lady with financial experience. According to further reports, former Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode was mentioned, but the source say his name may not fly due to his perceived standoff with a powerful politician from his zone.
A top source within government circles however opined that somehow a new appointee would emerge before that December 10 date. Investigations confirm that the fate of the current chairman for second term has been sealed.
