There is a twist in the contrived saga between former governor of Lagos State Mr Akinwunmi Ambode and the reclusive dark forces in the State. The bitter saga which culminated in the continued absence of the former governor from the political scene has attracted the attention of President Buhari himself.
He was said to have asked some APC Chieftains from the South West region at a recent private gathering: where is Ambode”? Our usually reliable source privy to the discussion would not however pin-point the exact response from the unnamed APC chieftains on ground. But the President was said to have felt the absence of the former governor and wanted to know his whereabouts.
The source did not say whether Mr President mandated the officials to go in search of him. Since the departure of Mr Ambode the strong unity existing within the ranks of the APC appears to crack as discordant tones have emerged.
With Prof Yemi Osinbajo facing humiliation and Pastor Tunde Bakare and Fashola being touted as possible replacement, and the Asiwaju himself in strait jackets for his 2023 posture, the centre may no longer hold.
President Buhari, according to snippets coming from the seat of power is thoroughly dissatisfied with the performance of his current ministers that he is tinkering with removals and replacement.
The President is said to be partially irked that the ministers have deviated from his campaign promises and drifting into self-aggrandizement and adulation. “You know they were calling him baba-go slow” stated the source. “Now he wants to change that and show Nigerians what he can do”, the source added. President Buhari is also not happy about the clamour for 2023, suggesting that his Administration is not being taken serious.
For this, an emergency cabinet meeting has been scheduled for Monday October 7. Coupled with the talk that, he is not in control of his Administration, PMB as he is fondly called is set to prove critics wrong.
Any moment from now, wielding the big stick is imminent. And for Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, the last may not have been heard; those who attempted to shield him out of the power loop appears destined for disappointment; for in recent days Ambode’s name has popped up repeatedly as possible replacement for the FIRS boss who is embroiled in corruption mess.
