Alhaji Abdullahi Gana Mohammed, the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has been hailed by numerous Nigerians for restoring the integrity of the paramilitary outfit. The CG as he is fondly called received the commendation for increased efficiency in the area of disaster management through search, rescue, rehabilitation as well as mitigation, among other functions.
They agreed that since Gana’s arrival, the paramilitary outfit has become more responsive in achieving its mandate as well as displaying transparency in recruitment process. Said one Dominic Olowu “Gana is trustworthy, reliable and very upright in all his transaction”. Mr. Dominic who is an Abuja based contractor particularly praised the contributions of the CG for making the NSCDC more proactive especially in curbing the activities of criminals. “That’s the area the paramilitary outfit has become more noticed”, he said.
But Alhaji Isa Abdul, a Security Expert reveal that under Gana, the troublesome dichotomy between HND holders and BSc was resolved. “Before his arrival, there was serious discrimination amongst the rank and file over who is superior”, disclosed Alhaji Isa. Today, according to him, all that is history. Another Abuja resident simply known as Yinusa in his own remarks enjoined what he called the NSCDC family to resist every temptation to drag the reputation of the organisation to the mud.
