The Nigeria Youth Organization, an umbrella body of youths from all over Nigeria, established in 1980, has affirmed its confidence and faith in the leadership of comrade Jerry Onyemachi Ugwu as well as the President of the organization. This declaration was contained in a release issued by Nigerian Youth Organization members from the six (6) geo-political zones of Nigeria comprising representatives of 19 Northern causes and 17 Southern cause members, and sighted by the press, on Thursday, March 21, 2024, in Abuja, the Federal Capital. The statement was signed by Hon. Aliyu Musa Yankara, the Vice-President of the Organization, and copied to the Board of Trustees, Grand Patrons, and Life Patrons. The statement debunked the claim by one Dr Duke Alamboye, who had allegedly conferred upon himself the president of the organization.
This misleading stance prompted a swift reaction from the hierarchy of the organization acclaimed for peace-building, deepening democratic values, and promotion of the virtues of nation-building to dismiss the claim and correct the wrong impression. They said, the Assembly of Youths made up of professionals, experts, captains of industries, and youths who have found themselves in key political roles cannot turn a blind eye to what it said were the activities of unscrupulous people who are out to undermine and truncate Mr Jerry Onyemachi Ugwu care-taker led committee. They then called for the immediate suspension of Dr Olusegun Adeleye, described as the erstwhile Secretary of the Board of Trustees for his involvement in anti-party activities.
My Jerry Ugwu who was conferred with the honor of Ambassador of Peace and Unity, based on his dedication and commitment to youth development and social empowerment, is the authentic leader of the organization. They said he became president at a time when the organization needed dynamic leadership and admitted that his reign had brought unprecedented peace and harmony to the organization, hence the phenomenal growth the Assembly had experienced.
