A frontline group, the Association for Better Government (AFBG) has responded to the accusation by former member House of Representatives and ex-executive director, Business and Marketing of NIG-COMSAT Samson Osagie that the Obaseki administration has failed as the ranting of an Ant. Addressing newsmen on this way to Lagos at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport where the newspaperman correspondents accosted him, Comrade Chibuike Amadi, declared that Samson Osagie is the one who has failed himself. “That’s a man who served twelve years as a member of the House of Representatives and four years as an executive director of Nigerian Communications Satellite Company, yet he has nothing to show for it except grandstanding”. Comrade Chibuike who was visibly angry lambasted Samson Osagie for allowing himself to be used to destabilise the performing government of Obaseki, a government, he said was delivering on their mandate to the people. “Samson Osagie should name one person he assisted to get a job while he was at the Assembly; he should also name one person he helped when he was in NIGCOMSAT”, charged Chibuike. Speaking further, he said, “we know their tricks; if it is not them, nothing works; they like to see themselves in power only so that they can continue to be stealing government funds while lying to the general masses”. Samson Osagie had recently in a national television network branded Obaseki’s government as a failure accusing the governor of insensitivity. Osagie and his ally, Comrade Adams Oshiomole is striving hard to defeat Obaseki in the next governorship elections and has vowed to make his administration ungovernable. But Comrade Chibuike stressed that Obaseki should show that he is the governor of the State; Chibuike who is the Secretary-General of the Association stated that it would be a disaster if these people use intimidation to unseat Obaseki adding that Edo people must rise up in defence of the governor and ensure that the APC is defeated in a landslide. “Osagie and his group of political mongers have nothing to offer Edo people except themselves; they are scheming to grab the State treasury and loot public funds and the people should not allow it”, he concluded.
