Hassan Nasrallah reminds one of a certain Goliath of Gath, of the biblical days, described as a “champion” whose height was a fearful “six cubits and a span” and was loaded with all sorts of dangerous weapons, something that could be likened to present day “missiles” wielded by modern day Goliath in Hassan Nasrallah. In describing Goliath, the bible said his presence so terrified the Israelites that they were “greatly afraid” and in fact “cried” whenever he showed up to challenge them until the Israelites mustered enough courage through David, a young general at the time, called his bluff and put him out of action.
That situation is no different from today in Lebanon where one Hassan Nasrallah, the bloodthirsty leader of Hezbollah, a terror group has been terrorizing Israelis, promising doomsday; he is not mincing words, and to prove that, he has been unleashing a daily barrage of rockets and missiles at the Jewish state and now is poised to wipe them out! A recent video he circulated showed that his forces have concluded aerial mapping of key military installations in Israel vowing to carry out his threat. And like the biblical Goliath, he comes out, although from hiding to address the Israelis challenging them to come out and fight, each time, his eyes bloodshot seething with rage. Hassan has never hidden his disdain and hatred of the Israelis promising them that in the next fight, there will be “no rules” and “no ceilings” swearing to deal a severe blow to the Israelis!
Fortunately for him and his cohorts, death is nothing to them; the Israelis on their path are the opposite; they abhor the loss of life. Benjamin Netanyahu determined to change the rules of the Supreme Court that allowed the enemies to creep in; In that brief loss of concentration, Hamas, also a terror group cashed in and succeeded in mounting a surprise invasion of southern Israel where they slaughtered more than 1,200 people including 400 soldiers before the Israelis knew what happened. This blunder would go a long way to affect the morale of the Israelis and teach them a lesson in unity: never lose your guard when surrounded by dangerous enemies! And while the disorder lasted, Historians wondered why Netanyahu—of all people—did not envisage the attack; it was so clear to everyone, that Israel was like a volcano waiting to explode; that a sinister feeling was in the air.
When Hamas eventually struck, it dawned on everyone the gargantuan hatred the Palestinians nurse against the Jews; if Israel could have been destroyed, October 7, would have been the day. It has been a long time since Israel was so vanquished. The 1972 massacre of Israeli athletes serves as a reminder that as it was then, so it is today: there is absolutely nothing to settle between the Israelis and the Palestinians! The Entebbe raid and the subsequent “Operation Iron Wrath” launched by Golder Meir, the then Prime Minister would also remind those calling for a ceasefire to shift back. It would end up an exercise in futility–a pure waste of time; the Palestinians are not only self-destructing but inhuman! The loss of over 37,000 souls in the ongoing Gaza war has not deterred Hamas from changing direction; no, they must hold on to Israeli hostages!
They are fighting a war of extermination and Hassan Nasrallah is the senior brother to deliver the death blow; nothing would please him more than to see that goal succeed–whether Lebanon is wiped off in the process that is no skin off his nose! not even the loss of thousands of innocent lives would deter Hamas leadership; they are not fighting for a homeland; yet they want Israel destroyed and then they would return to their “ancestral land”. This is the same vile thought in the heart of Hassan Nasrallah who regards himself as the ultimate—and holding the key to executing the “final solution” to the “cancer” in the Middle East, especially after having survived the 2006 month-long war. Since then, he has grown in boldness with his over 150,000 rockets, so why not dispatch the Israelis to Golgotha? Now, by upping the ante via his daily rhetoric: “I will make a bonfire of Israel if care is not taken”, and “I will roast them alive”.
The Israelis meanwhile shiver and are depressed dampened by internal political struggles for power; Hassan’s unbecoming utterances are indicative of a depraved and sick mind. Someone sound in his mind would know when to apply brakes; not Hassan who may not have been born in the days of the Munich massacre in 1972! To deepen matters, Israel, being the only democracy in the Middle East appears to be in a quagmire, no other state risks such in that region; the language they understand is violence! so it is easy for bandits to come in the form of “leaders” and grab power—as Hassan has done in Lebanon. Now with so much panic spreading in Northern Israel and Hassan posing a real danger, the Israelis must come together and take a decision: to go to war or not? Whatever decision they take; the goal must be to eliminate that monster. Those who do not want peace should not exit.
Hassan, predictably, might go into hiding like Yahaya Sinwar of Hamas; but with time, the law will catch up with them. For now, he may fire all the rockets and missiles; in his arsenal, and after that what? Characters like him have plunged the Middle East into a cauldron—a living hell for ordinary citizens. The Middle East will be a better place without his irks; let Israel call his bluff and root them out!
