That, Chief Dan Osi Orbih reign as the Edo state PDP chairman has come to an end is not in doubt. But the news making the rounds is that he is trying to impose a successor on the Edo state PDP! ‘’He can’t do that’’ roared Alhaji Abass from Etsako West LGA. ‘’Dan has no right to impose anyone on us’’, warned Alhaji Abass. ‘’This is why PDP failed woefully in the past”, stated Alhaji Abass.
When the news broke that the outgoing chairman was trying to sneak in Senator Odion Ugbesia through the back door, there was uproar in most part of Edo state; the reason is not far-fetched. Chief Dan Osi Orbih, according to reports emanating from the State has been fingered as being instrumental to the abysmal failure of PDP in the last general elections. ‘’ they were more interested in sharing money than winning the election’’, charged Chief Reuben Agbamoh.
‘’they turned themselves into tin- gods and spent more time building mansions thus neglecting their people’’, he added. ‘’Chief Orbih is not the owner of PDP in Edo state; same applies to Odion Ugbesia’’, said a youth leader in Benin –city. ‘’That era of imposition is gone forever; they should know this’’, the youth leader who prefer to remain anonymous concluded. In recent times, the activities of Chief Dan Osi Orbih has been worrisome.
Apart from being disorganized, they rarely inspire confidence and are more often clueless when it comes to party organisation. “But they are very good in politics of isolation and imposition” decried another political follower. The Agenegbode declaration for example is nothing short of “political adventurism”, declared Chief Brutus Adonije, “the same old face, old habits, nothing new”, he noted. Chief Brutus was to ask: “whatever happened to the new generation of Nigerians in Edo State? He argued that you cannot be doing the same thing and expect different result. “If PDP is not to fail this time, new faces must be injected in the command”, he stated. For now, Chief Dan Osi Orbih must depart from the party-so also Senator Odion Ugbesia!
