Before The Crucial Pdp Primary: Salute To Obaseki/Shaibu Loyalty

Loyalty pays; H.E. Godwin Obaseki has shown that. Before now, as the APC crisis raged and forced the exit of Obaseki, the talk had been whether he would ditch his deputy. But not Obaseki; he would rather go down with him. On the other hand comrade Shaibu had shown unflinching loyalty and kept faith with his principal.

Today, that rare cooperation has paid off. As the PDP heads to Primary on Thursday, more good news emerging from the heart beat of the nation suggest that all aggrieved opponents have stepped down in the spirit of democracy. That’s how it should be. Politics should not be a do or die affair as displayed at the APC.

The lesson of Obaseki/Shaibu duopoly goes beyond party politics; it should sink down the spines of the coming generation of Nigerians that there is more to achieve than rancor of squabbles. Nigeria operates a democracy—not primitive set of rules. Leaders should not aggravate but build.

There is no more room for those with voluptuous appetite. They are irredentists and enemies of democracy. Godwin Obaseki should be massively voted for to carry fly the party’s flag at the September elections.
