One month after they were forcibly taken from their homes, ten members of staff of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria have been rescued by troops of the Nigerian Army and reinstalled in their homes at the federal airport staff quarters in ifira, Igabi LGA of Kaduna State. Eight out of the ten kidnapped persons were from one family while the other two were from another family.
The state commissioner for internal security and home affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan disclosed this to newsmen at a press conference on Wednesday.
According to the commissioner, the names of the rescued persons included, Ilori Sunday (Mr.), Beauty Oshaibie Sunday (Miss), Miracle Sunday (Miss), Marvelous Sunday (Miss), Destiny Sunday (Miss), Samuel Sunday (Mr.), Deborah Sunday (Miss), Badiyatu Abdullahi Gambo (Hajiya), Bilkisu Gambo (Miss).
In his explanation, Aruwan said, “The Kaduna State Government hereby confirms that the troops of the Nigerian Army have this day rescued ten victims kidnapped from Kaduna airport staff quarters in Ifira, Igabi local Government Area.
“It will be recalled that armed bandits breached the fence of the Kaduna airport staff quarters in the early hours of Saturday, 6 March 2021 and kidnapped the ten persons from two houses located near the fence.”
Governor Nasir el-Rufai has visited the rescued victims and assured them of his government’s commitment to put an end to kidnapping and other forms of criminality in the state.
The commissioner assured to give further updates as they unfold.
